disappointed with google

i've been using gmail since beta, inviting ppl and that.

suddenly, yestreday i cannot access any type of send mail, e.g., compose, reply, etc.

i google this and find that says upgrade your safari... well, you know what fuck you google. that this happens with no warning and no explanation.

i'm running 10.4.11 server and safari refuses to upgrade saying i need some nonexistent security update or one that i have already applied. meanwhile, i'm back to Mail.app.

as many may now technical support is nonexistent from google. believe me, over the years i have to vet answers from their forums, what a whack job that was and a total frustration, then, that was, never getting any answers.

so fuck you and goodbye google.

So you're blaming Google because something is wrong with your installation so you can't upgrade? Why is that their fault?

i'm blaming google for "updating" their gmail so as some current users suddenly --without warning, explaination, or option -- cannot select compose or reply.

but i was expecting your reply to tell ne how to fix my Safari --since Firefox works fine i expect it's simply my safari that's somehow whacked. i.e., that,. perhaps, google did nothing.

any idea what the last available safari vers is for 10.4.11 (server) and where i can get it? i'm using 3.1 (4525.13).

btw, i can upgrade just fine, but swu showed nothing but itunes, which i then did.

If you try to install it, what update does it say it's missing?

I've seen quite a few sites break on Safari 3.x BTW. I've updated two in the last two weeks.

cannot install on this volume. Requires Security Update 2009-005.

i'm installing the sec update now. we'll see if i can get it all done.

i still don't get how one day i'm using gmail fine and BOOM, but ok, whatever. still, no warning, i.e., zero support to be had.

also this update doesn't appear in swu, it says no new updates.

so i'm still skeptical whether this will end working. it's good to be skeptical, then it will work just to foil me.

ok, thanks for the hand-holding. all fixed now. gmail compose/reply works again. :-)

btw, do you know aplist or other tweak i can make to lose/remove/delete the "add bookmark" button from the address bar?
