all i could make out was something like "Freedy Gotham"?, but i have no idea.

this is all they played of the arrangement, but it's a great version/arrangement.

from a *2004* Fresh Air interview with Jimmy Webb (there was also a very recent interview).

No clue, but it was neat to see a post about Jimmy Webb. Great songwriter.

Anyway, remembering him reminded me of John Hartford ( another guy that they don't make em like that anymore ), the guy who wrote Gentle on My Mind, a pretty big hit for Glen Campbell. Liked that one, too, great lyrics, pretty melody. Anyway, Hartford was a banjo player, so that explains this Youtube.

RE: identify this artist please
thanks soul, man. great stuff. ain't like it used to be. but then everything has changed... Webb was one of those paid or house (i guess) songwriters.

nowadays they have more and more of these collaboratives, even performing... like, maybe, Thievery Corporation. but i like some of this new stuff too, Gnarles Barkley, Ting Tings.

but those are cool --get out of my head-- diversions. i play progressive blues, even some folksy/country staring to creep in --like this rendition of Wichita Lineman. but then i always did like (my "diversions" back them), CSNY, Poco, QSMS.

Freedy Johnston.

Unlucky.

He has a live version off of Live at Mccabe's Guitar Shop, but it's not as trippy.

You owe the search master big bud brother ichi. Cool

Good cut, I might get the album.

whoa! i sure do.

a hauntingly nice rendition.

i do a fair bit of imitating steel guitar via volume swells and vol swells with bends, even get the tone in on it with a wha effect.

thanks, bro.

ok, i see REM did it too, and i see Freedy on Youtube... but i tell ya wot... it all sucks but this album version. :-)

this one ain't bad... (JT and Yoyo Ma)

The one on Unlucky is best. Granted he could put a lot more into the studio version.
